Established in 1987, Fairfield yarns is a traditional, family run, yarn merchanting business, based in Lancashire. Specialising in redundant stock of professional yarns used in industry. Its my favoriet place to buy yarn. I travel up from Devon to the shop which is located to the east side of Haywood, half an hour outside of Manchester and stock up whenever i’m there. Its like walking into an ‘Aladin’s Cave,’ or if you’re like me a small child walking into a sweet shop. Wall to wall of stunning yarn in every colour, from cotton to Lambswool to Silk to Chenille this shop has everything you could possibly need. The Mill shop and warehouse is accommodated in a former Co-op shop, adding to its charm.
David & Veronica Fox, two of the most welcoming people you’ll meet. Cups of tea offered on entry and lovely chats. Mr Fox has a steep background in the Textile industry, having studied Textiles and Management at Leeds University and is an Associate member of the Textile Institute. Ask him anything from yarn to technical advice, he’s got your answer.
My favoriet room, Wool!! To the left is where I buy all my 2/15’s – 2/17’s Lambswool which is what all my Products are woven from. To the right, merino’s and cashmere blends. I love every Inch of this shop.
I could spend hour after hour in here, just looking at all that yarn!!
