I found the perfect little studio space only a ten minute drive from my house. Situated next to stunning woodland scenery and the River Exe (safe from flooding), the view out the windows can be a little distracting at times. The space is small but fits both my looms beautifully, with a mezzanine level for storage, what more do I need!!
It’s taken me quite a few months to get the studio to where it is however. Fresh paint, new flooring, double glazing the windows, de-spidering!!! and much more, but its finally starting to feel like my own little space, the only thing left on the list is a little wood burner to keep me warm through these winter months!
One year on…..
October 2018:
My studio is still going strong, however it’s starting to feel a little cramped with the recent purchase of yet another table top loom in need on a little TLC (another restoration on the way).
I managed to only just survive the last winter with my electric heaters, so it’s officially now time to get that wood-burner I was talking about, especially if were to have another winter like the last one. I’m going to be revamping my studio space a little within the next few days/weeks so will keep a progress report with images going!
February 2019:
Wood burner purchased! The greatest investment yet, I can now weave for hours and not get cold. Its a stunning bespoke hand-made wood-burner, made by a local maker Ed of Parp Industrie.
A local friend Richard helping me to put in the wood-burner.
Aside from putting in the Wood-burner I had a bit of a studio makeover, moving my looms around to try create optimum space. I also bought another loom…. oops. Its an 8 shaft table top loom. I now have 4 looms and still only 1 of me.
